  • School Reopening 8th June

    Wed 03 Jun 2020 Headteacher

    Wednesday 4th June

This afternoon, you will have received an email and update on Class Dojo about details for reopening the school from the 8th June to EYFS (Bluebells), Year 1, Year 6 and the School Club (Key worker pupils and Vulnerable pupils).

I am attaching the letter and the easy to follow guidance about all of the safety measures we have put in place for pupils and staff under our Newsletter section on the website. These include: staggered start and finish times for different classes, having small Bubble groups of pupils with under 10 pupils in each group, how we will be working and organising our teaching and most importantly, how we will maintain good hygiene regimes and cleaning.

We are really looking forward to seeing more of our pupils back next week and remaining in close contact with all our other families at home.

Please do keep in contact with class teachers on Class Dojo.

    Miss Hartley

    Monday 1st June

Good Morning Everyone and happy 1st day of June!
I hope that you had a relaxing half term holiday with time to enjoy the wonderful sunny weather.
Last Friday, we had a Governor meeting via Zoom to consider the latest Government information on whether it is safe to reopen Wheatcroft to more pupils.
The decision was that we will go ahead with reopening school to more pupils from the 8th June.
Governors have looked very carefully at our organisation for the small Bubble groups in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6 as well as all the Risk Assessments for having more pupils and staff in school. The governors understand what a huge decision sending your child back to school is after such a long time at home and will respect the decision taken by families.
I will send out a detailed letter on Wednesday which will go through staggered start and finish times for the different year groups and key safety reminders.
Currently, all our Bubble groups have under 10 pupils in them. From the 8th June, the School Club will continue for pupils of Critical workers and Vulnerable pupils in Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5.
Just a reminder, school will be closed to all pupils EVERY FRIDAY from the 8th June to allow all teaching areas to be Deep Cleaned.
Take care everyone and please continue to follow safety advice for you and your family.

    Thursday 21st May

Following our School Governor meeting on Tuesday this week, it was agreed that we would go ahead with making plans for reopening school to pupils from EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6 from the 8th June IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

Please note that this plan and date for reopening is under constant review.

The plan is to have pupils in small Bubble groups of less than 10 who will work with the same staff in the same classroom and outdoor area from Monday to Thursday.  School will be closed to ALL pupils on Friday so that the school can be Deep Cleaned on a Friday.

The School Club we have been running for pupils of Critical Workers and vulnerable pupils since the 23rd March will reopen from 8.30am on Monday 1st June.

See Newsletter with more information about this plan.

    Monday 15th May

Following the Prime Minister's announcement last Sunday, a great deal of time has been spent by staff and governors this week planning and preparing for school reopening on Monday 1st June for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6.

The Governors have decided to defer the decision about opening until next week when they have all the information they need to make an informed decision. See 15th May Newsletter for more information.

I will update everyone next week.

    Stay Safe.

    Miss Hartley

    Monday 11th May

    Good Morning Everyone
I hope all of you enjoyed the Bank Holiday and were able to celebrate VE day in some way. As always, I look forward to seeing all of your lovely photographs and hearing about your activities from last week.
    School Reopening
Last night, we all heard the Prime Minister's announcement that primary schools will be reopening on the 1st June for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils if the reduction in virus infections continues to fall. You will have a lot of questions and concerns about this as do we. I am waiting to receive more information from the government about what this means for us at Wheatcroft.
In the meantime, please do not change what you are doing at home with the children in terms of home learning and prioritising staying safe.
As soon as I am able, I will update you when I have more information.
    Take care everyone.
