Year 1 hard at work!

We have been celebrating Bonfire Night, Remembrance Sunday and Children in Need this half term. The children have been learning dance through Zumba and hockey in PE. In Maths, we have been looking for 3D shapes in our outside learning area and learning to read the number words to correspond with the numerals up to 20. (one, two, three, etc). 

We are using our phonics to read and write our own sentences and have been busy learning and writing the story of the Treasure Hunt by Nick Butterworth and the story of Beegu by Alexis Deacon. We are using our Grow the Code Sheets to help us remember the graphemes for the sounds that we can hear.

In Science, we are learning about the seasons and deciding which are deciduous trees and which are evergreen. We are going to be using non fiction books to find out which animal hibernate!

And we still have lots of fun and exciting Christmas activities to celebrate!
