  • Children's University Graduation

    Fri 12 Jul 2019 Headteacher

Yesterday evening was a great celebration for Wheatcroft pupils as 29 Year 6 pupils graduated from the Children's University. 94% is our highest percentage of Year 6 pupils graduating over the last three years.

The scheme is run by the University of Hull and pupils have to collect learning hours over Year 5 and 6 by participating in activities both inside and outside of school. These hours must be outside of the school day and must be voluntarily be chosen by the pupil.

Our pupils, along with other schools were dressed up graduation gowns and were presented with their certificates by the Mayor of Scarborough in the Grand Hall at the Spa.

Thanks to all the families for supporting their child last night.

  • North Yorkshire Games Winners

    Mon 08 Jul 2019 Headteacher

Yesterday afternoon, our Y5/6 Hi 5 netball team, their families and Mrs Hillion travelled to Queen Margaret's School in York to represent Scarborough in the North Yorkshire Games competition.

On a boiling hot day, the team played some flowing, fast netball, winning six games, drawing one and loosing just one.  At the end of the tournament, the team were announced as overall winners of the North Yorkshire Games (County Champions) -an outstanding result!

Congratulations to the team: Libby, Saskia, Izzy, Ebony, Kelsie-Mae, George and Ben. Apparently, it is the first time a Scarborough team have become champions of North Yorkshire!

Although Mrs Hillion has been coaching the team this half term, a big thank you to Mrs Smith who has worked with the team since September.

Also, a huge thinks to the families who transported the children and supported so well.

  • Music Concert Y3 & Y4

    Wed 03 Jul 2019

We held our second school music concert of this Summer half term with all the pupils in Year 3 and Year 4 performing for their families on Wednesday afternoon.

Year 3 have been learning to play the recorder each week with Miss Andrews as well as learning to read notated music.  They performed a selection of pieces and played beautifully.

Year 4 have done also done a Band Project all year and learnt to play an orchestral instrument at their weekly music lesson. They also performed their pieces very well which included: Tango and Cha Cha.  I am delighted that so many Year 4 pupils have signed up for further music lessons next year -well done!
