Wheatcroft School's unique location just above Scarborough's South Bay beach, makes it a perfect setting for accessing beach school activities throughout the year.  School staff have had training on the principles of beach school learning from our Curriculum Leader who is a level 3 qualified beach school leader.

We became a beach school because we know how much benefit children gain from visiting the beach and carrying out off site learning.  We give every child the opportunity to visit the beach and learn and develop in a natural environment, explore, create and be curious about the world around them.

Beach School activities are planned for every year group and enhance learning across the curriculum including in geography, science, art and design, literacy and personal, social, emotional and mental health and well being. 

Our school Locality curriculum driver has beach school activities and learning at its heart.
