Welcome to the Year 1 Page

 

 

Year 1 is the beginning of Key Stage 1 and there are lots of exciting things ahead! 

We learn about so many interesting things in Year 1 and go on lots of educational visits. Our topics this year are; the Jurassic Coast, Celebrations, Winter, New Life New Beginnings, Castles, Oh I do love to be beside the Seaside. During Year 1 we are able to learn through our interests, complete focused work with our teachers and become really independent learners! 

Mrs Beedham is the Year 1 teacher. Mrs Roberts, Mrs Petrie and Mrs Silby are the Teaching Assistants in Year 1.

Phonics Screening Check information for parents
  • What is the phonics screening check? All children in Year 1 take the phonics screening check in June. It is designed to give teachers and parents information on how your child is progressing in phonics. It will help to identify whether your child needs additional support at this stage so that they do not fall behind in this vital early reading skill.
