Wheatcroft Community Primary School was opened in 1968. 
There are seven classes in total including four Key Stage 2 classes, two Key Stage 1 classes and an Early Years Foundation class.  Class organisation is one class per year group eg Class 1 is Year 1, Class 2 is Year 2 etc.  The main school building has six classrooms, a school library, offices, an IT suite and a large hall which is used for PE, Music, School Assemblies and lunch. One classroom is in one of our two mobile units next to the main building. The other mobile unit (The Zone) is used by staff to run intervention programmes with small groups of children during the day.  The Bungalow adjacent to school is used for our before and after school club Wheaties as well as having a dedicated Speech and Language room and Special Needs office. An extension was built to enable us to open a brand new school library in December 2019 which is also open to families after school. 

The school grounds are extensive and comprise a Key Stage 1 playground, a Key Stage 2 playground and two large playing fields at the back of the school.  The Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 adventure trails were installed in April 2014. New outdoor gym equipment was installed in 2018 thanks to Tesco contributing £2000 towards costs. We also have the Jubilee Garden which was renovated for the school's Golden Jubilee in 2018 and is a peaceful area for pupils to sit and relax. Our latest installation in May 2021 is a brand new Sports Area (MUGA) that has been built on the KS2 field and is an all weather sports facility that can be used for PE lessons and every playtime.

In addition, we run a very successful before and after school club called Wheaties run by Wheatcroft staff from 7.55am -8.35am every morning and from 3.05pm-5.00pm every night in school.
