NewOutdoor Classroom Opened
Thu 20 Jul 2017This afternoon, we were delighted to have a very special visitor open our brand new outdoor classroom. Stuart Carlton is the new Director of Children and Young People's Services for North Yorkshire and Wheatcroft was the first school he has visited.
Our outdoor classroom was funded by a successful grant application made by Mrs Younger which resulted in a £10,000 award. We hope all the children will benefit from using it through growing vegetables and plants.

Y6 pupils Graduation
Sat 15 Jul 2017A year ago, Wheatcroft was invited to participate in a national programme called the Children's University which encourages pupils to independently access a whole range of activities from: Sports and Outdoors, Arts and Cultural,Academic and Social Community and Environment. Every time an activity is achieved outside and inside of school, pupils get a stamp in their Children's University passport. A year on, we are delighted that 13 out of 33 Year 6 pupils (39%) achieved enough stamps to graduate at the Spa Grand Hall yesterday evening. It was a real celebration of achievement and lovely that so many family members were able to attend and support. Congratulations to: Finn, Edie, Pete, Sol, Leon, Jack, Alex, Isha, Leonnie, Libby, Joe, Tyler and Hannah. Big well done to Edie and Finn who gave a speech in the Grand Hall in front of the other schools, Deputy Mayor and Principal of the Scarborough Campus of Hull University. After the presentations, a buffet and disco were provided which was thoroughly enjoyed by all our pupils, especially the dancing! -

School Council Meeting
Wed 12 Jul 2017We had our final School Council meeting of the year this morning which gave the opportunity for all our class representatives and Wheaties school club to review their highlights from the school year to Mr Baxter our Chair of Governors and myself. They also made lots of suggestions about ways to improve the school and requests for additional equipment/resources.
All classes have really enjoyed their off site visits and having visitors in to school which have made their linked learning topics more enjoyable. It was good to have a very comprehensive report from he Y6 representatives about their highlights and memories over their seven years.
