Pupil Leadership

Underpinning the involvement of children in the running of our school is a belief that the more children are actively invested in a school the greater their contribution towards it will be.  This has a profound effect on learning, as invested children make good learners.  Additionally, at our school we believe that involving children in decision making and ambassadorial roles will generate an ambitious and aspirational atmosphere in which children will want to succeed and will develop key skills which be invaluable to them in later life, particularly when entering the work place.

The children are encouraged to be involved with the running of their school and any issues they wish to raise or suggestions they wish to make are considered, which gives the children a feeling of ownership as they know their views are valued, discussed and acted upon.

Why we have a Pupil Leadership Team

  • A school is a community and pupil councils help to make our community harmonious and good to live in.
  • Our Pupil Leadership Team enables pupils to make a positive contribution to their school environment and its ethos.
  • Every child learns to listen to others and to recognise themselves as a worthwhile individual with a right to be heard.
  • Children learn self-confidence and social skills.
  • From a young age, children are challenged to be responsible for their behaviour towards each other and towards their teachers and helpers.
  • Contributing to their class and school community allows children to grow in self-esteem.
  • Every child learns from their own experience how to contribute to society as a whole and what it means to be an active citizen.
