Pupil Premium Funding

At Wheatcroft Community Primary School, our mission to Learn and Care underpins everything we do — and this includes our commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of background, can thrive and succeed. The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools to help reduce barriers to learning and close attainment gaps for pupils who may be disadvantaged. We use this funding strategically to improve outcomes through high-quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider opportunities that promote wellbeing and enrichment. Our work is guided by research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and reflects our school community values of Respect, Integrity, Courage and Perseverance — ensuring that every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential and to grow as confident, capable learners who make a positive contribution to our school and community.
Our Approach
We use our Pupil Premium funding strategically to deliver high-quality teaching, targeted support and wider opportunities that make a measurable difference. Our approach is rooted in research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and aligned with our School Development Plan priorities. We focus on three key strands:
-
Quality First Teaching – empowering staff through professional development and evidence-based practice to meet the needs of all learners.
-
Targeted Academic Support – providing structured interventions and adaptive teaching strategies to accelerate progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
-
Wider Strategies – addressing barriers to attendance, engagement and wellbeing through enrichment, mentoring and family support.
This tiered approach ensures that every decision about spending has a clear rationale, is closely monitored, and leads to tangible improvement in outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
