Home/School Communication
Home/School Communication is a vital part of supporting your child.
Telephone: If you have a question, message or otherwise need to contact school, this should always be done via telephone in the first instance and our Office Team will be delighted to help you. This is especially important for anything time sensitive or urgent such as a change to your child's home-time arrangements. |
Email: Your second port of call should be via email to admin@wheatcroft.n-yorks.sch.uk. General emails will be responded to by the Office team and anything specifically for a class teacher or other member of staff will be forwarded on to them for their attention. |
Text Messages: You will receive text messages regarding anything urgent or important during the school day - this could include an alert about illness if we can't get you on the phone or if an after-school club is cancelled. You can reply to these messages easily in the normal way. We would encourage you to save the school text number on your phone - 07860 054478 - you can text us anytime, not just in reply to a message from us! |
ClassDojo: is a free school communication app which all Wheatcroft families are invited to use. When your child starts school, you will be sent a joining link. Your child's class teacher will send a weekly update about the class, but Dojo is not checked daily, so if you have an important question, comment, information to give us or a concern, please avoid using Dojo and ring us instead. |
Letters: As an environmentally conscious school we try to avoid sending lots of paper letters home. Most letters will come to you via email and Dojo and can always be found on the Letters page of the website. |
School Website: This has lots of information about the school. All letters home are posted on the Letters page and the weekly timetable will keep you informed of things involving your child in the coming week - we encourage parents to take a screenshot each week, so it's always handy! The Dates for Your Diary colour coded list is also really useful for planning ahead for events such as sports days, Christmas performances and Parents Evenings - these are added as soon as we know when they are! |
You can check the dinner menu and term dates easily in the 'Information for Parents' section as well as accessing information about clubs, Wheaties wraparound care club, our PTA, how to apply for free school meals, what to do if your child is unwell - and SO much more. Class pages will keep you informed about what your child is learning and support you with helping them learn at home too! |
Face to Face: We hold two sets of Parents Evenings each year in October and March. You are encouraged to attend these appointments, which can be booked via the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app or website. Booking is only available at certain times, and you will receive information about this in advance of Parents Evenings. In July, after we release children's annual school reports, parents are invited to pop in to school for an informal open evening to meet their next teacher(s). |
If you wish to make an appointment to see your child's teacher at another time to discuss a specific issue, please contact the office and they will arrange for this to happen.
