Homework

Year 5 children need to draw on all of the learning skills they have developed during their time at Wheatcroft. The children will be expected to do at least half an hour of homework each weeknight, incorporating 10 minutes of reading, 10 minutes of spelling practice and 10 minutes of times tables. 

Children have been given a reading record and school reading book which they are able to change every Tuesday. In addition to this we are keen to encourage a love for reading, and they are able to read their own books. Below you will find a recommended reading list of books for Year 5 should you need any ideas for great texts. In Year 5, the children are able to fill out their own record but ask for a parent to sign them still. Six spellings will be given out each week to children in class.
