Science - investigating light and shadow
As part of our science topic on lights and shadows, we investigated different materials. We found some were opaque, some were translucent and some were transparent. We looked at lots of different light sources. We also learnt all about reflection. We learnt that a shadow occurs when an object is blocking the light from a light source from passing through. We found that an opaque material creates the best shadow, because it does not allow any light to pass through. We created our own shadow puppets from opaque materials and tested these out.
We were so interested to see how our shadows changed on the playground throughout the day! We realised this was because of where the light source is.
