Character Education

At Wheatcroft CP School, we believe that is important to develop the whole child. The children have been learning about our different character traits that are needed to help us at home and at school.

In September, the Key Stage Two children were asked apply to become part of the Character Education Team. The children had to apply discussing the character traits that they believed that that showed on a regular basis. They even had to get a reference from a member of staff!

The team now meet on a weekly basis and have been brainstorming ideas to promote and teach the other children and adults about how to use our character traits.

The school meet for a weekly Character Trait assembly lead by Mrs Kirby. This is where we learn about the traits and we celebrate the children that have been chosen by their classmates or a member of staff for showing a particular character trait. The children receive specially designed postcards to share their successes at home.

Clean Up for the Queen Litter Pick

We had a fantastic turn out for the litter pick this morning. The children (and parents!) showed resilience for coming out on this grey morning. We were lucky enough to have been met by the Mayor of Scarborough and had our photograph taken by the Scarborough Review. All the children were armed with litter pickers and green bags. Thank you again for helping out and thank you to the Character Team for organising the event.
