Spring Term

This term the children will be learning a new story called 'Pirates love underpants!' and I am sure that there will be lots of giggles as we follow the pirates through their journey to learn about the world around us and looking after our environment. The children will be finding lots of pirate treasure to count as well as making treasure maps to help find hidden treasure. This theme will be extended onto our welly walks and watch this space for more exciting news about a trip! The children will be working in teams to find out information and creating models! We will be also finding out about keeping themselves safe as we will be looking at internet safety (Childnet), road safety, meeting the local police and talking about personal privacy (NSPCC pants linked to our story). What an exciting half term!

Sea Life Centre

We had a lovely day at the Sea Life Centre and have learnt lots about different sea creatures. The children saw turtles, seals, otters and sharks. Lots of the children showed courage when holding different sea creatures and learning about life in the rock pools. The children were all very eager to eat their lunches and enjoyed taking many, many photographs.(I have put just a small selection on here!)

Kung Hei Fat Choi! We have celebrated Chinese New year in style and have found out information. Our top five facts are:

. Chinese children receive paper money in red envelopes for good luck

. Families meet together to celebrate the New year

. This year it is the year of the dog

. There is a special day called 'Lantern' day

. The celebrations end with a firework display.

Today the children ate noodles and tried hard to use chopsticks. Lots of fun was had by all.

Our First Welly Walk!

We went to have a look at the traffic lights and learnt to cross the road safely. We pressed the button and used our listening ears to wait for the beep. The children watched the lights carefully and waited for the lights to change to green. They were so good that they even pointed out when other pedestrians did not cross the road properly!

Happy World Book Day!

The theme this year was 'share a book' and we have shared lots of lovely pirate stories today. As well as walking the plank and making cutlasses the children have been busy creating patterns with jewels and precious loot. A really lovely pirate day celebrating the love of reading and sharing stories. Thank you for supporting our exciting pirate day. The children looked fantastic!
